A story of friendship, resilience, and defying all odds.

Film Overview

Told through the eyes of filmmaker Fagan Davis III, My Friend Casey is a powerful documentary that follows the extraordinary life of Casey Orndorff—an athlete, doctor, professor, and survivor. Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy shortly after birth, doctors told his parents he will have significant mental and physical challenges. This led to the assumption that Casey would never live a full and independent life. By age 26, he had survived abuse, mental health crisis, and multiple attempts on his life. Yet, instead of giving up, he rose—earning his PhD at 25, becoming a tenure track professor by 26, and now training for the 2028 Paralympics as a sprinter. This film is more than a biography. It's a testament to the human spirit.

Directors statement

“When I met Casey over a decade ago, we said from day one, ‘This needs to be a documentary.’ Watching him defy every limitation and redefine what’s possible has changed my life—and now I hope it changes yours.”
